To have a solid blog that captures the interest of others and keeps them coming back, you must wirte about various topics that are of interest to readers. That is why most blogs today are not topic specific. How many readers do you know that will come back everyday or even several times a day to read about roofing.
Sure you may get some contractors coming to read, but even most of them aren't going to visit everyday to see what you wrote about roofing, they'll just stop by ever so often. But if you write about a variety of subjects, visitors will come back to see what the new discussion is about.
This is a good way to build a large list visitors that are interested in what you have to say next, especially DIY home owners which could become customers. |

Good point, sort of like how newsletters should cover more topics than just our trade(s). This time of year would be perfect for discussing winterizing our lawns, pruning our shrubs and buying windows to cut down on our heating bills |
