I would love to know how many people create an ad on Craigslist each day thinking that it will generate business or add links to their site. If you are one of those people, stop wasting your time and make post in places that are considered to be more long term. Most ads on these types of sites are only good for 30 days and then they're gone. So posting ads on them as a means of building links to your site is worthless since by the time the pages get indexed, they expire.

SEO is meant to be long term and quick links are not going to add any value to your site in the eyes of search engines. Try something like blog post and directories instead.

I would not use it for any means of linking to my website. I think that the search engines would find that no different then link farms and your site would be lowered in the page ranking system.

Many contractors in my industry do craigslist ads. Heck I used to do it because it was all I knew. I always bothered me I was surrounded by unprofessional fly-by-night companies but I think that is what craigslist attracts the most.

That is the truth to about the SE's finding you. I never once got one job or lead from a craigslist ad. Just think of all that time and effort I wasted and now all the links are long gone.

Not only that, if I needed powerwashing, I don't think I would trust someone from Craigslist, especially the way people are exploiting it these days (like for murder), since they have to come to my home. I would trust them more if I knew they had a professional looking website with maybe some referrals. That's just from a customer's point of view.

The last place I'd look for a service is craigslist. Too many scammers sitting out there just waiting to take your money.

I agree with you. Ad posting sites had never been of much valuable help. Further there are too many of spamming sites in ad posting sites and it won't even attract business oriented traffic to the sites. The best way is to keep the SEO updated every now and then.

I'm thinking that CL is nofollow in the first place so there's no link juice there. But still CL is a great source of customers!

Cl does offer click value, nothing wrong with adding a little activity when just starting out.

I was using craigslist for creating ads but it’s been long time when I stopped working on it, now I only do simply posting by using quality content and It gives good results as compared to craigslist. But Craigslist is good if you want to work on small projects with limited time.
