I am pleased to have the first post on the Professional Handyman Forum.
Late summer is where we are at right now, so that means not much time
left to do those outside repair & maintenance projects.
This is the time to be thinking about the following : - Outside Areas -
* Cleaning & Sealing your asphalt driveway - wood decks - fencing
* Check your exterior paint for any peeling areas - sand - prime - & paint
* Check all of the exterior & re caulk - windows - doors - siding
* Tune up your garage door - tighten rollers - oil & grease tracks & hardware & check & replace if necessary door seals
* Check all exterior doors for weatherstripping problems - repair or replace
* Repair any gutter problems now - loose spouting - elbows - reseal any drips - make sure that downspouts are extended far enough away from the foundation - no buildups of organic crud
* Check your roof for any damaged or missing shingles - check & reseal flashing & valleys
Inside of your Home :
* Have your heating system cleaned & serviced -
* Check your smoke detectors - carbon monoxide detectors - fire extingushers - repair or replace
* Service your hot water tank - clean your sump pump crock
* Have your dryer venting cleaned & if necessary replaced - oil up belts & pulleys
* Have your carpeting - tile floors & furniture professionaly cleaned
* All duct work should be inspected & professionaly cleaned if necessary - after cleaning have the duct work sanitized & to keep your ducts cleaned - have an electrostatic filter installed |

On a side note, when will "handymen" be forced to be politcally correct (handypeople)? |

| I am not sure that they ever will be forced to do anything. I think that theres is a certain stigma that comes from being a handy man and often it is totally wrong. The information that was provided was a great resource. |
