One of the most common of all screw-ups I've seen done by framing contractors is verifing the wall heights before getting started. This is a tough issue to correct even if it is caught early.
Depending on local building codes, you can either tear the walls down and start over or extend the wall and add hundreds of straps. I think starting over is the right thing to do but there may be some good fixes for this situation.
So has anyone else seen this problem or even did themselves and if so, what had to be done to correct it?
When I find that small errors occur, my crew often gets a little mad at me because I make them redo the wall. If they were doing the job they are being paid for there would not be this kind of mix up or at least there should not be. They are suppose to check and then recheck and a thrid check that is my policy. But sometimes I find that they are not done.
