Most contractors only service a relatively small area from which they reside. That makes it extremely important to rank highly for any keyword phrases that contain the cities you service plus your targeted keywords.
A good example for a siding contractor in Denver, CO would be: denver siding contractor. If you are a contractor and you don't focus you site on local search terms, you are missing out on very high quality leads. The leads you get from these keyword phrases are usually low in number, but they are very targeted. Just like the example above, if someone types in denver siding contractor and finds your site, then request and estimate, you will have a very good chance of getting that job.
So how do you get a good rank for all of the cities in your local area? Easy, just list the name of the cities you service on the bottom of the pages. You only need to put around 20 or so of the largest cities on the bottom of each page. For an expanded area or more indepth list, create a page on your site and name it your "service area" page. List all of the counties, cities and zip codes within the area you service.
I know this seems to easy, and you're right, it is. The fact is most trades don't have very much online competition for local areas. The exception is for very large cities like Boston, Detroit, Denver, New York and so forth.
But for the most part, if your site is optimized for your keywords, this will help you achieve some very high rankings for the cities you want to work in.
So how many of you have included your local cities on your pages and how good are the leads you get from local search term clicks? |
