TOP 10 LOCAL MARKETING TIPS
Here are some things you should do to help market your site. You may have to sign up for an account with each of these services if you don't already have one. Most are free, and some are dependent on your current marketing like phone books. If you already have accounts, just sign in and add/check/modify your company information. We can do these things for you but it is not free. It takes a lot of time to get listed in all of the local directories and our prices start at $400 plus associated listing fees to do the work for you, so again, you can do the work for free, pay us or do nothing, it really is your choice. If you have already done something listed below then just ignore it and move on to the next item.
1. Sign up for local directories provided by the major search engines. Here are some links:
a. Google Local/Maps
b. Yahoo Local
c. MSN Local
d. Local Search Marketing Guide (City Search and Merchant Circle are very Good) Add your business to each of these on this page
e. Yahoo Directory (This One Cost $299 Per Year But Is Worth The Money)
2. Another thing you can do is search a local city like Chicago Illinois on Google and look for businesses to partner with and especially local directories or ad centers. (You don not want to exchange links, just get a link to your site)
3. If you have listings in any phone books, you should contact them to make sure your website is listed in their online directory. (This usually comes with a phone book listing)
4. Sign up for as many online forums as possible and start posting. Make your post in related topics and remember, you do not have to go overboard with posts. You just want your signature to show on the page so you get links back to your site. Once you sign up, we can help you write the proper signature to get the most out of you posts (this is only available for WebFirstCreations clients). Here are some good ones to get you started:
a. Contractor Talk
b. Cleaning Talk
c. DIY Chatroom
d. House Repair Talk
e. Woodworking Talk
f. Power Wash Network
g. Paint Talk
h. Deck Restoration Community
i. HomeOwner Talk
j. Construction Contractors
5. Get active on your blog and join the Share-Blog-Post program. This is very cheap and only requires about an hour a week.
6. Sign up to have you site submitted to search engine friendly directories on an ongoing basis. An affordable plan is our Basic Directory Submission package but you should consider signing up to have your site submitted to new online directories on an ongoing basis which would be the Ultimate Directory Submission package.
7. You should talk with your distributors, manufacturers and sales reps to see if they have programs to help promote you and to have your site listed in their "locate a contractor" sections.
8. Join our contractor forum and start making posts. This forum is very topic specific for construction contractors and will help you understand how to market your company and close jobs.
9. Sign up for our blognlinks program. We now have multiple levels to help meet lower budgets (starting at $250 per campaign). I'm not going to go in detail about this program but if you are interested, please contact us for the complete scoop on how it works.
10. You should also start writing articles about your industry; how tos, don't dos, tips and so on. If you're one of our contractor clients, you write the article and we'll submit it to our list of online article publishers (currently over 1000) for free. This is an unlimited service.
There are many more things you can do to promote yourself for free or very little money. It is always best to come up with a marketing budget. It doesn't matter if that is $20 a month or $1000 a month, if we know your budget, we can advise you on what to do first and then next. It is always a good business decision to create a plan and stick to the plan, online marketing is no different. |

If you have a website optimize it for local keywords so that people can find you. There are two main aspects of search engine optimization what happens on your website and what happens outside of your website. The on page factors include your website’s code, content, urls, page titles, etc. A website’s off page SEO is basically their link portfolio- how many sites are linking to you, what is the quality of the sites linking to you, etc.Advertise to your potential customers on Facebook. You can select your target customers demographics, interests including dance or dancing with the stars, etc, location and more.
Thanks
