I wanted to know if many of you have internal marketing departments or if you hire someone to do it for you? I do not have the time to really worry about this although it is important to increase business.

I personally hire 1-2 people to take on the job of marketing. Hiring a group or a business to do it in my opinion is a horrible mistake if you have a small to medium sized business.
Usually with 1-2 people, you can have a website up, fliers and other printed materials and of course the cheaper price to pay.
With a group or business, you want to have a big business so the money is worth it. Hiring a person is a lot cheaper than hiring a group of people. I gaurentee most independent marketers will charge less than larger groups. |

Thank you for the information. I was interested in this as well. I have always known that groups can be more expensive. What is the going rate for hiring an individual to work for you doing this, or does it vary.

This is one of those areas where if I didn't have any experience in Internet marketing, I'd look for someone who did so I wouldn't have to worry about it either. Companies outsource stuff like accounting, HR, etc., so why not Internet marketing?

We usually hire two to three Internet marketers mostly freelancers for this job. Going with an online marketing company would be hard and costly. Moreover a small group of professionally qualified men would be enough for marketing jobs if we are having a developing medium scale business.

I was actually considering hiring a few friends to help me promote my store, and to pay them some money for each referred sale they would bring me. That would be mutually beneficial for me and for them, assuming that they actually tried anyway!
