I've been spending a lot of time working on my website search placement and presence, especially on Google.

One of the search keyword combinations that I'm really trying to rank first on is: "Pressure Washing Jacksonville FL"

There is another local company that is at the top of the results, but I can't see any logical way they should be ranked so high. I've looked at the source code, I've checked their page rank, I've looked for funny business on their page, I've checked for inbound links, I can't figure it out.

Those of you that are well knowledgeable about SEO, if you wouldn't mind running that search query through Google and check the website of the top listed company. The companies name starts with "Hydro". I don't want to put a link to there site on here.
Let me know what you come up with. I would really appreciate it.

I see only 1 reason, they only have 1 link and their meta tags are crap. 1 thing I did notice is the age of the domain
(Domain Registration Date: Wed May 15 16:28:05 GMT 2002)

Your domain
Creation Date: 05-may-2004

You should be able to bump them with some seo work.

I would highly suggest you start a blog or two and start creating back links to your site.

Making comments and inserting a hyperlink in other people blogs that are related to pressure washing and/or Jacksonville will help you immensely.
Also, news articles sometimes allow comments and are very useful. Be sure you only comment on related blogs and articles otherwise your comments could be labeled as spam.

Yeah, since your site is newer than your competitor's, Google won't even look at your's yet. Google loves websites that have been around for a while. However, if you follow Tradesmen's suggestion, you should be able to bump your competitor pretty quickly.

By the way, I'd also look up some keyword phrases that are about 3-4 words long and write some articles around the phrases. Have a link that points to your site so you can drive traffic to it and then publish your articles.

The only thing I would like to add is this: put a little money into your SEO budget. You can get all sorts of article spinners and writers who will write for pennies, but the potential customers visiting your site can tell you didn't spend any money on it, and if they don't know anything about your services, they have to read it.

Local SEO is not magic. There is a long list of techniques that are known to work. Some work better than others. While how a SEO campaign is executed can have some proprietary aspects to it, in general a good SEO consultant should have no problem telling you how that are going to go about improving your rankings. In particular you want to make sure they are not using any spammy techniques that could potentially harm your business. If they avoid the question or they don’t seem particularly transparent about their methodology, hang up the phone. It’s not particularly hard to switch out a toilet, but most people would prefer to hire an expert so it gets done right. Your plumber doesn’t have any secrets at least I think he doesn’t so why should your SEO consultant?

Thanks
