I would like to know about replacing painted trim with some thing like flat, stained wood trim. I have been having some water leak problem which I want to be fixed also .

Your best bet is to hire a professional window company to inspect your windows and determine the extent of your damage.

I have to agree, unless you know right where it is leaking from. Then you still might want to get some professional advice before you move forward on this.
