Every contractor should have a blog and a link from the home page of their actual web site to the blog. This will help the blog rank higher and ensure it gets indexed by the search engines.

More importantly, contractors need to actually post something on the blog on a regular basis. Every post made on the blog creates a new page that has links pointing to various pages of your site. This works hand-n-hand with the new Share-Blog-Post program. Even if you don't make your post like you should, the post other clients write that end up on your blog gains you more inbound links. No work with a return, gotta love that!

So back to the subject, how often do you post on your blog and what would it take to get you to post more often?

Not often enough.

In order to post on a more regular schedule it would require a reward like once you hit publish it unlocks your e-mail account or your spouse serves you dinner. After a while it should just be a chore like checking your e-mail, checking your web-stats or walking the dog. If you spent 2 minutes on your drive to the office thinking of a subject and a few minutes while stuck in traffic the actual post will not consume any time once you get home.

I'll have to practice what I preach.

I'm going to try for at least 3 posts a week on my own blog and 3 contributing posts to the "Share-Blog-Post" program.
