A friend of mine has a problem with a door that was installed before she bought the property. She does not want to have to replace the door but it really is about 1-2 inches too short and so there is a gap at the bottom, which allows spiders and dust and so on to get in. What can she use to correct this issue without replacing the door.

Ewww, thats sounds pretty bad, froma professional standpoint I say 'change the door out' however the only other way I see is to add another secton jointed on and glued and then cover with a kick plate, it will work but I would feel happy with it

Thank you for this answer I will be sure to let her know what you have said about either replacing the door or adding a section and then a kick plate over the top of the work.

I have a question about kick plates. Do you think they are just a good thing to have on most outer doors, or would you say only when they are needed.
